Harper is keeping us on our toes and super busy! She got her first two teeth between 6 1/2 months and 7 months. The same time she started to crawl! We were so excited that she picked up on crawling so quickly....but we missed the days when we could lay her on the floor and know she wouldn't scoot off somewhere! This certainly made us more aware of where things were in our house, on coffee tables, etc. She quickly learned to pull herself up and by 8 months she could stand independently for a short amount of time.

Jace and I took a short vacation to L.A. in mid-September. It was a nice break but we both missed our Harper! We were gone four days! Harper stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Tilley during this time. Here are a few pictures from that stay!

Harper is now 10 months old! We have been quite busy the past few weeks with Mommy going back to work and figuring this daycare thing out. We thought we had everything lined up- our wonderful friend Ajia was going to watch Harper for the first two weeks and then it would be on to permanent daycare. Well Ajia helped a ton!!! We loved having lil' Harper stay with her b/c we knew she was in great hands! On the 16th Harper went to her first day of permanent daycare, mom was definitely worried all day. Daddy came home and things apparently went fine, which made me much more comfortable. That feeling lasted for about 2 hours and then they daycare lady called to say that she had a family emergency and could no longer take Harper. No warning, no "you have til the end of the week with me", no nothing. Harper couldn't go back the next day and that was that.

So I stayed home with her the next day and we spent the next day calling everywhere trying to find a replacement. Luckily we found one person that had an opening for an infant. We met her that night and this past Monday, the 23rd, Harper started there. We really like Miss Julie! The kids there are also great. Harper is getting more and more used to being there during the day and seems to be doing well. I guess it was a blessing in disguise with the other place not working out. We were also lucky enough to have both sets of grandparents and Ajia close to help out! THANK YOU!

Harper is really starting to grow! She is smiling all the time and really starting to giggle! It is adorable. She is also back to sleeping in her own bed!! YEAH--let's hope she keeps that up. She will sleep anywhere from about 6-7 hours then wake up to eat and go right back to sleep for a few more hours. There have even been mornings that I have had to wake her sleepy bottom up! :) She is also moving around alot. She will almost automatically turn from her back to her tummy in her bed (she likes to sleep on her belly) and she is always in a different position and place in the crib when I go to get her!

Harper was baptized on the 22nd with her cousins, Maryn and Griffin. We were lucky that all of our family could be there. Harper wore the same dress that all of my mom's sisters, my mom, my sister and myself wore at our own baptisms...kind of a cool tradition. She will be four months old on April 1st, I'll report back then with her updated weight and height. She should be on track to start cereal soon as well--we'll see :)

Love from the Bailey's!

Long time coming..

I know it has been a while..and I apologize. We traveled to Grandma and Grandpa Bailey's on Christmas Eve. This was her second trip out west!! She travels so well--this makes things much easier on mommy and daddy too! :) She was sooo happy to spend time with G & G Bailey and her cousins Brooks and Lawson. We then returned to North East KS on the 26th to do Christmas with Mommy's side of the family. Harper got to meet even more of the family on the Mitchell side.

Harper was spoiled with lots of love and adorable gifts from everyone! Thanks for making this first Christmas so special everyone! We love you all

She turned one month old on New Year's Day! Can you believe it has been a whole month! Mommy and Daddy sure can't. The time has flown. She is changing and growing every day---we are loving every minute of being parents. It is truly an amazing thing!

Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks-I know I haven't been the greatest at getting these posted on a more consistent basis-I apologize! :)

Welcome Harper Marie

I think most of you that check this blog are already aware that Harper Marie Bailey arrived on December 1, 2008 at 10:45 pm. It was a long day, but worth every minute!!!! She is beautiful (we are of course biased a bit :)) Both of her grandparents were at the hospital when she arrived so mommy and daddy were able to show her off right away! She was sooo wide awake we couldn't believe it. Children are true miracles. Being a parent is truly amazing and Jace and are learning more and more everyday.

We came home on Wednesday afternoon. We were definitely ready to have our lil' bundle home and start our life as a family! We were very lucky to have Grandma Diane here at the house when we arrived. There were already chocolate chip cookies baking when we walked in! :)

Harper definitely has her days and nights a bit mixed up..but that is understandable. We are learning all together on adjusting!

Here are a few pictures of our little one--enjoy!

Week 35 and Dr. appt.

Well we are down to about 4 1/2 weeks on our count down until our little girl arrives :) We are getting sooo excited. Today we had a doctor's appointment and ultrasound. Her heartbeat sounds good at about 132. We also had the tech. check to be sure we were still having a girl--IT IS!

She has pretty long legs and a fully belly. The tech. said that she is weighing about 6 lbs 15 oz. This means that if we are to go full term, she could be a big 8 lb (almost 9--eek!) baby. But everything else looks healthy and normal!!! The tech. also said that it looked as if our little one already has a head full of hair--we are curious if it is red or dark like her daddy! I am attaching a couple photos, so enjoy! The top two she is looking at you with her hands right in front of her chin. During the ultrasound it looked almost as if she was sucking away at the back of her little hand. The bottom one is a profile, she looks to have beautifully plump lips!

One more update, they did say that I am almost dialated to 1 cm. This really doesn't mean much in terms of going into labor or progressing. I am just over 33 weeks and today measured between 36 and 37 cm. The doctor ordered an ultrasound to be done. We will do that along with our next appointment in 2 weeks (11/12/08). The heartbeat was right around 128 (Dad thinks that the old wives tale of the heartbeat indicates a boy and not a girl :)) We shall see!

The due date will not change at this point, we will see how big the baby is measuring and hopefully get an idea of how much fluid is also in there with her. Either of those, or the combination could be attributing to my BIG belly! The next visit will involve a pelvic/cervical exam. I haven't experienced any signs of pre-term labor, and everything else seems normal so all should be well--just BIG!

Week 33

We are on the count down--7 (ish) more weeks until are little girl is scheduled to arrive!!
This week she should be weighing a little over 4 pounds (for those of you that have seen our puppy, she is 4 lbs 6 oz!) and has passed the 17-inch mark. Starting with this appointment we will see the doctor every other week. Today I measured at 34 cm. The general rule of thumb is that you should measure in cm what you are in weeks! So I am measuring a bout a two weeks (and a couple days) bigger. Doctor says this means I am probably growing a healthy (aka BIG) baby! She said that if I am measuring progressively bigger at our next appt. in 2 weeks, she will order an ultrasound so we can get Baby G's measurements. Our little girl's heartbeat was 133-138 while we listened :)

That's all for now, I'll post on Sunday with the BabyCenter.com weekly report and then I'm off to Utah for the week!

A few pictures

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5257195245385339522" style="FLOAT: left;
